2000th release on Naxos
On 1 March 2000 Naxos will release their 2000th CD - the first budget-price recording of
the Elgar-Payne Symphony No 3 (Elgar's sketches elaborated by Anthony Payne) performed by
the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Paul Daniel. Paul is highly respected and
known for his spectacular performances of British repertoire. His highly acclaimed Walton series
on Naxos received many accolades, the Spitfire Prelude and Fugue etc. (8.553344) being one of
the discs to receive the 1999 Gramophone Editor's Choice His performances of Elgar have also
