Elgar Works is a charity whose overarching aim is not to make a profit but to generate a wider interest in Elgar's music and life. While volumes such as these, requiring careful academic research, attention to detail and the finest production values, are not cheap to produce, we offer them at a standard recommended retail price which we believe compares very favourably with those of comparable publications from commercial and academic publishing houses. We nevertheless wish to place them within the financial reach of the widest possible readership and therefore offer a variety of payment and subscription options that enable those who wish to purchase volumes on a regular basis to obtain significant savings on the full publication price. There are three ways in which you can do so:
Subscription Payments by Monthly Standing Order
If you intend to purchase volumes regularly but would rather not pay the full retail price of 40 for each volume at the time of purchase, you can open a monthly subscription account, making regular payments by standing order or automatic deduction from your credit card of 5 per month. Not only does this enable you to spread your payments throughout the year; you will also receive each volume at a 25% discount on the full retail price, reducing the price you pay to 30 a copy, subject to your having a positive balance in your account:
- you are under no obligation to buy each new volume as it is published - you can wait to receive our press release containing full details of the volume before deciding whether or not to purchase;
- should you wish to buy, you can purchase as many copies of a volume as you wish at the same 25% discount on the purchase price;
- you can also buy back copies at the same 25% discount on the purchase price, subject to availability;
- you can cancel your payments at any time providing your account remains in credit and receive a full refund of all money in your account; or, if you wish, you can ask for a partial repayment of the money in your account.
Elgar Complete Edition Subscribers
If you already subscribe to the Complete Edition and wish also to purchase volumes of the Collected Correspondence, you need do nothing other than consider whether you need to increase your monthly payments to keep the account in the black in order to secure your subscribers discount. As a Complete Edition subscriber, you will automatically be advised of the impending publication of each new volume of Collected Correspondence and, should you wish to buy, you can pay for Collected Correspondence volumes from your Complete Edition account at the same 25% discount as Collected Correspondence account holders (and Collected Correspondence account holders can likewise purchase Complete Edition volumes at a 25% discount).
Single Payment Subscriptions and Pre-Publication Orders
If you prefer not to commit yourself to monthly payments, you can still make a worthwhile saving on the full purchase price by joining our subscriber mailing list. We will notify you of the publication of each new volume and, should you choose to buy it, you will receive a 10% discount on the full retail price, reducing the cost to 36 per copy. Unless you have opted to pay in advance, you will be invoiced with the volume. As a member of our subscriber mailing list:
- you are under no obligation to buy each new volume as it is published - you can wait to receive our press release containing full details of the volume before deciding whether or not to purchase;
- should you wish to buy, you can purchase as many copies as you wish at the same 10% discount on the purchase price;
- you can also buy back copies at the same 10% discount on the purchase price.
Postage
To maintain our low cover price and discounts for subscribers, we are forced to pass on postage costs in full. We will always use the cheapest delivery method, including surface mail for overseas delivery unless you request otherwise and couriers for packages containing more than one volume. Purchasers are welcome to suggest other arrangements for delivery, or to collect from the publisher in Rickmansworth if they wish.
Overseas Subscribers
Because of the high charges levied by banks on foreign currency transactions, we can only accept payment in sterling. We can however accept payment by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Maestro).
